With the goal of developing Kenya's renewable energy infrastructure, Exergy International SrL (Exergy) and RentCo Africa Limited (RentCo) have signed a major collaboration agreement.
According to the deal, Exergy will provide eight Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) power plants to an Olkaria field geothermal power generation project. With the use of Radial Outflow Turbine (ROT) technology, these ORC units should be able to produce about 30MW of power all together.
By combining ORC and flash power plant technology, RentCo's Olkaria geothermal field venture seeks to increase power output capacity by 67MW. Kenya, which is presently ranked sixth in the world and is on the verge of joining the 1GW club of geothermal power producers, is a major participant in the global geothermal power capacity and needs to make this effort.
Exergy will be involved in more than just equipment delivery; they will also offer extensive technical knowledge in the design and upkeep of geothermal powered plants. This collaboration demonstrates Exergy's dedication to using their knowledge and expertise to assist sustainable energy transitions throughout Africa, improving sustainability and accessibility to electricity.
The announcement, which emphasizes the growing significance of geothermal energy in Kenya's renewable energy policy, is made concurrently with the end of the Kenya Geothermal Congress in Nairobi. Luca Pozzoni, general manager of Exergy, expressed hope about the partnership and emphasized how it could lead to successful outcomes for the growth of renewable energy in Kenya and other parts of Africa.
The agreement's completion was also emphasized by Erdogan Arpaci, General Manager of Exergy Turkey responsible for managing the expansion of the African market, as evidence of Exergy's strategic initiatives and established connections in East Africa.
