Mustafa Sanallah, Chairman of Libya's National Oil Corporation (NOC), recently met with Patrick Pouyanné, CEO of Total, and an accompanying delegation from the French supermajor, in an effort to improve and extend established cooperation.
Libya's oil production has recently fallen below one million barrels per day, and the country is looking to boost short-, medium-, and long-term crude output through the Mabruk Oil Operation Company and Waha Oil Company, which work on behalf of the NOC and Total E&P.
The two parties also addressed the Waha Oil Company's adoption of green energy technology, specifically solar systems, as well as a variety of social initiatives.
Total has had a presence in Libya for more than 60 years, working in onshore and offshore oil exploration and development, as well as trading and shipping. Libya's National Oil Corporation (NOC) has announced that it is committed to working with Total to strengthen the domestic oil and gas sector and place it as a catalyst for the country's economic development.
