UTEC Wins Survey Work Coral-Sul FLNG Assignment at Offshore Mozambique

TechnipFMC has awarded a survey to UTEC, a multinational survey company and member of the Acteon Marine Energy and Infrastructure Services Community to support the construction of the Coral-Sul FLNG (Floating Liquefied Natural Gas) project, the world's first ultra-deepwater project in Mozambique.

The Coral-Sul FLNG, which is approximately 50 kilometers from the coast of Mozambique, will work in 2000 meters of water in the Coral field, which is located in the southern part of Area 4 in the Rovuma basin. Eni is the Coral South Project operator on behalf of Area 4 Partners.

The work includes pre-laying surveys; long baseline installation and calibration arrays; surveying and positioning support; support for installation of manifold foundation piles, manifolds, tether piles, flexible lines, umbilical lines, wellhead jumpers and flying leads; surveys of pre-loading operations; and surveys of risers and as-builts.

Ross Leitch, Managing Director, UTEC Europe and Africa, said, "We have worked hard to establish a good relationship with TechnipFMC, and we look forward to continuing our partnership. We are committed to connecting with our customers and ensuring they enjoy a world-class experience and the right solutions. It's our people who make a huge difference. We add value to projects by utilizing a multi-skilled, multi-disciplinary team and eliminating the costs of survey-related downtime."

Survey work is scheduled to begin in April 2021. The start-up of the Coral-Sul FLNG 3.4 million-t capacity is scheduled for 2022.
