OiLibya General Manager, Duncan Murashiki announced that the "Libya Oil Kenya Limited", having its trade name as "OiLibya" has rebranded to "Ola Energy." He also stated that the change in brand will also affect on all its outlets in 17 countries across Africa.
The Ola Energy started its distribution and marketing business in Kenya in the month of December 2006 after it signed an agreement with ExxonMobil corporation.
"Rebranding is a part of the firm's expansion technique which will see more fuel stations opened across the country. This new name is the short form of oil Libya Africa", said Mr. Duncan Murashiki.
He also said that, "by the end of 2019, we expect to have more than 100 stations in Kenya with more resources being dedicated to our lubricant market as well as liquified petroleum gas."
The regional board chairman Elmarimi Kashim stated that "the firm has not disclosed like how much it would spend in order to brand its 1,100 stations spread in 17 African countries but they will be interested to gradually phase out the OiLibya tag during the transition expected to be completed by mid-2020."
Since, OiLibya doesn't want anyoune to imagine that Ola Energy is a new company without any experience in the market and therefore they will still show a little symbol of OiLibya in their stations, stated Mr. Kashim.
