East Africa's Oil & Gas sector is to promote its exploration, investment and infrastructure development and the effect of this growth will be beneficial to the region in terms of regional ecosystem with regards to oil production, natural gas supply and its distribution.

This will also help in increasing the efficiency and security of supply.

On the other hand this will also benefit in reducing the cost to consumer in long run.

There has been continous increase in consumption of gasoline, diesel and jet fuel in East Africa since EA has been an impoeter of refined products.

It has been noted that the majority of this products has entered through Mombasa in Kenya and also through Dar-e-salaam in Tanzania.

"East africa region has mainly concentrated on import efficiency so that it can manage the cost to consumers and import bill", as stated by Mr. Maina Kigundu, the head of oil & gas sector in EA at Standard Bank.

Kigundu also informed that the increase in refined oil production in East africa region is also transforming the oil & gas infrastructure mix along with investment development and also continuous growth in EA oil & gas sector.

The countries like Kenya, Ethiopia, Tanzania and Uganda are all focusing in developing the regions refined product's export and distribution infrastructure.

While on the other hand they also focus in improving the import efficiency.

"This will not only help the region to have high growth rates but will also release the most needed foreign exchange for more strategic human development", explained Kigundu.
