The latest edition of ARF will this year hold discussions on Africa’s role in the global renewable energy development sphere. Climate resilience strategies, sustainable development and the goal of attaining the requirements of COP22 will also be other major issues being discussed.
Government ministers, global investors, and heads of African utilities will also come together to discuss the development of renewable energy projects on the African continent.
The city of Marrakesh played host to the first edition of the ARF in November 2016. The last edition was organized by the Ministry of Energy of Morocco and was also endorsed by ONEE.
The objective of the 2017 Forum in Morocco will be to build a foundation as the premier meeting for pan-African meetings.
The organizers, Energy Net will focus on finding more practical solutions to the threat of climate change and will also explore clean project financing and more innovative community-owned projects.
Another event named ‘Gas Options – North and West Africa Meeting’ will discuss and focus on gas to power projects in North and West Africa.
The meet will bring together energy decision-makers and the public sector to discuss how they can contribute to their common goal of turning gas to power.
Valeria Aruffo, the regional manager of EnergyNet, commented, “The forums will hone in on investment opportunities in the Nigeria–Morocco Gas Pipeline, as well as bringing together key stakeholders to drive forward renewable energy projects on the continent in light of the COP22 outcomes last year.”
